Distributed Secondary Control in Microgrids Using Synchronous Condenser for Voltage and Frequency Support

A high share of distributed energy resources (DERs) in power distribution grids has posed many challenges for system operation and control. Microgrid (MG) application with different control approaches DERs been drawn a lot attention from the research community to provide more flexibility, reliability resilience system. This paper develops secondary MGs on top that using synchronous condenser (SC) participating voltage support. The proposed framework is designed obtain four objectives as follows: (i) frequency restoration, (ii) average (iii) arbitrary active sharing among SGs BESSs (iv) reactive all SGs, SCs. comparison results under scenarios show SC MGs, response are much improved quickly recovered nominal values thanks natural inertia fast other MGs. Additionally, multi-agent implemented realize method hardware environment.
